Norman Hand, a shut down defensive lineman for the Chargers and Saints, collapsed in his South Carolina home on Friday at the young age of 37. He was one of the best DLs the Saints had and probably one of the biggest, being a part of the Saints “heavy lunch bunch” with Grady Jackson and Martin Chase. Over his career he posted 22.5 sacks and 2 interceptions. During his time with the Saints, he managed a playoff season which included the Saints first playoff win in team history.

He played college ball at Mississippi, then was drafted by the Miami Dolphins. He ended his career at the Seattle and New York Giants in 2003 and 2004. He retired at the end of the 2004 season.
