Hornets Survive Road Test Against Lakers and Other News

Posted: January 7, 2009 in Hornets

First the other news: Drew Brees is offensive player of the year and Ed Reed could possibly become the next addition to the Saints deals to f**k up list. This is terrible news. Why? Frankly because it’s news.

Now on to the game. Coming off of a heartbreaking road loss to Denver to end their 4 game winning streak, the Hornets appeared on the down swing heading to LA to face the Lakers in the third of a very testy 4 game road trip. The Bees let the Lakers run wild on them in the first half of both of their home contests with Kobe and company, being down by as many as 35 give or take at halftime of those games. My thoughts were frankly, How the Effin Hell were these guys gonna beat this team on the road? Perhaps I should allow CP3 and DDub to provide me with the answer. They simply had about 72 reasons between them as to why the Hornets would come out victorious. (If you believe the Saints are great, you probably didn’t catch my drift just now). If not, then yes you guessed it, Chris Paul and David West combined for a face smackin, jaw droppin 72 effin points. David got 40; just simply lost his mind Tuesday night. Talk about a high level player steppin up when you need him to. CP3 chipped in a measly 32 points, 15 assists, and 3 steals to extend the new streak to 5 games!!!! All right Chris Paul, you’re just 103 games away from tying the record set by All Star point guard Chris Paul in 2008!!!!!

Rasuel Butler, replacing Mo Pete as the permanent 5th starter, dropped in 10 points, Tyson Chandler had 12. Surprising night for Chandler as he was 3-3 from the field and 6-6 at the stripe. Final score from the Staples Center in Los Angeles was 116-105

The Hornets will travel to Utah to face the Jazz tonight in the conclusion of a bruttle series in the schedule that began a day before Christmas Eve. The Hornets are 21-10 and in second place in the Western Conference behind the Lakers.
