Deuce is Cut Loose

Posted by Jake on February 17, 2009

After 8 seasons with the New Orleans Saints and a club record 6,069 yards and 55 touchdowns, the Saints have released their top running back after injury riddled seasons.

Deuce was no doubt the most popular Saint in New Orleans, but his production has been down the last couple of seasons and he simply could not return to form after two knee surguries 0n ACL injuries. It was time to let him go, although that may not be the reason he WAS let go, as I have read on nfl.com. Surprise, surprise. Not performing wasnt the reason. No it was something far more troubling. Like all players that once played for the New Orleans Saints, he was released not necessarily because the Saints didn’t want him back, they “granted” him the release so he could seek real money elsewhere which I guess is like saying he’s another player we can’t afford. Now I won’t be too quick to bad mouth the pocketbook of the Saints front office, because I am fully aware that they DO have $120 million to spend on two players who don’t do a damn thing. So maybe our issue isn’t money, maybe if the salaries come down on Mr. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, or Mr. Grant me those C-Notes, or we release one of them, we’d be in business. It could be well spent on one Ed Reed who………..this just in, with some seasoning and practice could quite possibly be a halfway decent player, if you get my drift.

$7 million extra just isn’t going to get it done in free agency. $7 million is the money that was due to McAllister next season. I say that because the Saints were doing this for the free agency period which is pretty much underway right now. I don’t know who they expect to sign for $7 million. Surely not the best corner in the game. I’ll applaud the front office for not releasing Reggie Bush, even though he could have given back a lot of money, because he’s basically our PR guy and gives us national recognition, although some would say Brees is getting up there these days strictly with his performance on the field. But more people spotlight Reggie Bush than anybody else on this team, so that had to be a good decision. I mean really, all the guy has to do is run to the sideline, and the guy’s practically an apostle.

I guess what I’m sayin is getting rid of Deuce was a mediocre move. It would probably be a 5 on a 0-10 scale. It wasn’t the best move considering we have nearly half the team salary invested in guys who keep the bench dirtier than the quarterback’s ass. It wasn’t the worse considering we did not give up the existence of the New Orleans Saints outside of Louisiana in Reggie Bush.

But where will the noise be during Chuck Edward’s player introductions? I’ve heard that for as long as I can remember.

Guess I’ll have to live with DDDRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW from now on.

LB Dan Morgan Out of Retirement, Will Join Saints

Posted by Jake on February 14, 2009

Linebacker Dan Morgan has come out of retirement and will reportedly join the team who signed him right before he left the game; the Saints. Well i decided in light of this recent event, I would make a little return of my own. Dan Morgan is a former Carolina Panther and yes he was a decent linebacker, but he’s coming back injured so God knows what he’ll do. He might drink some “Gregg Williams juice” and show some flashes of hope or he might drink too much GW juice and reinjure himself or even only make the practice squad. But whatever happens, I’m sure he’ll valiantly and triumphantly march his way down an emotion-filled season and succeed in accomplishing only missing the playoffs by a millimeter instead of a mile.

I wonder what number he’s going to wear? He can’t wear 55. That’s for sure.

Man look at this guy, he looks gassed. He should after all those years in the NFL and all those injuries. He’s probably thinking, “Man, I wish football only lasted 4 months or something like that.”

Wait a minute……………………………..

Dan………………………………………………you’re a smart ass man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, while GW and the gang get busy tearing down and rebuilding the defense  like an old and busted, aged, rusted up, broken down, corroded old boat motor, I’ll be busy talkin about how the Saints and Hornets will stay and how the Hornets will get back on the right track. Theyre 30-20 which is very unfamiliar territory for them. To match last season’s win total, they must now go 26-6 in their last 32 games.
