Hornets Sanctify Themselves

(This is done fully by me. The NBA Recap is too short)

After dropping to the Rockets at home and a 98-89 road decision to San Antonio, they blow an 11 point halftime lead to the Wizards who take the game on a buzzer-beating three pointer. The Hornets are ice cold right now. They have been known to fold the second half of the year, but surely after opening up 37-15, the city of New Orleans won’t initiate a cave-in like this, right!!!???, right!!!??? If you think about it, however, it’s very feasible. We will soon find out if it’s the Saints or the city, and you known what I mean.

This losing streak could not be at a worse time. The Hornets play Phoenix Wednesday night and Utah Friday Night. After losing to the only cleanpuff they have in this month of murderers row, I certainly won’t be jumping up and down on game night any time soon. But just in case they can turn it around, keep them here and put your stinger, yeah, that inner stinger you so stubbornly don’t realize you have, IN A F***ING SEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hornets are 37-18, dismal if you consider they had 12 loses just eleven games ago. They are an abysmal 5-6 over their last eleven. They will need to turn this around Wednesday night. You don’t want this to grow to 4 games. They will have to beat Steve Nash and the Suns to do just that and that, especially in this half of the season could not be a harder task. Everyone kicks it up a notch in the second half and losing to a 26-29 team isn’t exactly encouragement. Especially when you were up big at halftime. It’s far from it.

I did wipe the Hornets clean sponge on Dillyburto’s site though when I commented about them. That site is covered in Saints. The worse thing that happened since the Hornets had their last 3 game losing streak right after Nola Chick attached the Who Dat phrase to the poor Bees. The ‘Aints are King Midas’s opposite.

Thus, a new tagline, seen above, what happens here, stays here. This stuff is sacred people, stay off. I will use my competence only policy and strict tolerance, and mine only, to will my teams to victory.

Rockets Burn Hornets at the Hive

Yao Ming and company took care of business Friday night dominating the whole game to defeat the Bees 100-80. That keeps a 10 game winning streak, now eleven, alive for Houston and also extends their run of holding opponents under 90 points to 8 of 9 games.

The Hornets got their third sellout of the year with their largest crowd of the year, 17,714. They did not have much to cheer about, though, for much of the night.

The Hornets will look to bounce back in San Antonio tomorrow night.

San Antonio is 36-17, one game back from the Hornets in the Division race. With Phoenix winning, the Hornets still lead the conference, but only by conference record again.

NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 22 (AP) — The Houston Rockets‘ winning streak just got a whole lot more impressive.

Yao Ming had 28 points and 14 rebounds, and the Rockets won their 11th straight game, 100-80 over the Western Conference-leading New Orleans Hornets on Friday night.

“We talked about making a statement,” said Rockets coach Rick Adelman, whose team also set a franchise record with 10 consecutive road victories. “We feel we’re playing as well as anybody in the league right now and we want to show that we can continue to do that by playing the best teams and getting the win.”

Tracy McGrady scored 34 points on an array of perimeter jumpers, driving layups through crowds and soaring dunks, helping Houston build an early double-digit lead it maintained throughout the second half in snapping New Orleans’ five-game winning streak.

“We understand this is one of the teams that’s ahead of us,” McGrady said. “I wanted to really set the tone right away. I wanted to attack and see how they were going to play defensively. It was one-on-one and I got it rolling.”

Houston improved to 2-0 since trading Bonzi Wells and Mike James to the New Orleans Hornets shortly before Thursday afternoon’s trading deadline. And reserve guard Bobby Jackson, the primary player the Rockets received in the deal, hasn’t even suited up yet.

This was the Hornets’ first game since the trade. Wells and James were unable to play for New Orleans and sat on the bench in street clothes, watching their old team run their new one out of the building. Jackson was still in Houston for his physical. The trade would not be official until that was complete.

Although New Orleans has a 7-footer of its own in Tyson Chandler, the matchup against the 7-6 Yao did not go well for the Hornets’ center.

“New Orleans is a very good team and this gives us confidence,” Yao said. “It means a lot for us to beat them on the road and also keep our winning streak and also the 10 (game) winning streak on the road. … We made history, right?”
